Make Your Echo

AD: Suma Jane Dark

CW: Milo Blake

We’re living in an age where the government is aggressively trying to erase the collective identity of the LGBTQ+ community. The Trump administration has initiated multiple executive orders explicitly designed to remove digital and physical representation of queer identity and history.

If we’re discussing the importance of images and optics, there’s only one company that’s been championing both since their inception in 1941.

How can Nikon improve queer lives in an era of erasure and suppression?

Introducing- Make Your Echo.

Nikon Echo App

〰️

Nikon Echo App 〰️

Nikon will partner with ONE National Gay & Lesbian Archives to create an initiative dedicated to permanently preserving and protecting queer stories.

Introducing Nikon Echo-  a geo-taggable map, that can be downloaded on the app store. Echo allows our photographers and anyone else to post their own places, memories, and moments, each vetted by our archival partners at ONE. Each post will appear on the map as a clickable bubble, allowing viewers to learn about the history of the photo, as well as the queer heritage of wherever the user happens to be.

Hosted in a P2P format to ensure no government or single entity can delete these archives, the Nikon Echo App turns wherever the user happens to be into a decentralized, permanent gallery of queer history and art.

Nikon Echo can be used in Map View, Street View, or Gallery Mode.

OOHs

〰️

OOHs 〰️

To tease the introduction of the Nikon Echo App, we will run an evocative editorial print campaign as a teaser to raise interest.

Upon the App’s launch, we will introduce our interactive viewfinder billboards.

All ad placements will be specifically chosen to highlight the queer heritage ingrained throughout the most and least represented parts of our country.

Socials

〰️

Socials 〰️

We’re gathering photographers in every state who are known for their work capturing LGBTQ+ history, and equipping them with Nikon RED ZRs.

They will team up with the ONE Archives by finding and submitting photos capturing the queer experience across America.

Their work, along with the stories they uncover, will be featured on Nikon’s socials.

OOHs and Press

〰️

OOHs and Press 〰️

We’ll be putting up billboards in all ICE infested cities and doxxing one agent a week until they’ve cleared out.

In addition, we’ll be using OOH placements in high traffic areas to educate passersby on their rights in the event of an arrest or a detainment. These OOHs will be in English as well as Spanish.
